Clio Sherman

Hi, I’m Clio. I am a freelance illustrator, based in Brooklyn. Beyond your classic pen and paper, I harness the powers of Procreate, Procreate Dreams and Adobe Suite to build worlds and bring concepts and ideas to reality. I have an educational and career background in gender and feminist studies and reproductive rights, and have spent much of my life using my art to speak up for marginalized groups and bring attention to injustices. In addition to the use of art as a form of activism, I love embracing the silliness that comes with creating new universes and characters for books, social media posts, parties, album covers, textiles, etc.

    = One of the co-founders of an event company that hosts high-concept themed parties with creative and interactive elements that bring out your inner child!
    = Chief Illustrator for children’s books, social media posts, stickers, coloring books, and everything else produced and provided by Juice Box Presents.

    = Bartender, server, and custom cocktail creator at a local bar in crown heights, Brooklyn.

    Freelance Illustrator, Content Manager and Creator, Remote. September 1st, 2020 - Present
    =     Designer of logos, band posters, stickers, social media posts, and t-shirt designs on Adobe Illustrator with a Wacom Intuos tablet, and on Procreate with an iPad Pro.
    = Works with small businesses to build websites on Shopify, Wix, and Squarespace.

    #VOTEPROCHOICE, Research Coordinator, New York, NY. September 24, 2018 - December 11, 2019

    = Research coordinator for the largest progressive pro-choice voter guide in the United States.
    = Trainer and manager of 24 researchers for the 2019 #VOTEPROCHOICE voter guide.
    = Added every pro-choice candidate from all 50 states into Civic Engine, which created the #VOTEPROCHOICE voter guide.
    = In charge of assigning new tasks for the researchers, tracking and spot checking their work to make sure it was accurate, and hosting four meetings a week to review progress and troubleshoot any questions with each researcher.
    = Headed the abortion stance research of every state and local candidate in every election all the way down-ballot.

    = Coordinated all candidate outreach for the 2019 #VOTEPROCHOICE voter guide
