3024: A New Years Eve Gala

December 31, 2023: Our third party was a New Years Eve Gala, set in a futuristic world imagined by the Juice Box team. Upon the purchase of a ticket, everyone was prompted to take a personality quiz to find out what ‘‘habitation zone’’ each person belonged to. The habitation zones included upper canopy, canopy floor, river, and subterranean dwellers; each zone having its own unique styles and personality types.

Welcome to the year 3023. Some many hundreds of years ago, there was The Happening. All of human history can be neatly split into two parts; before the happening and after it. In its immediate wake, the old model of civilization became critically unsustainable. Infrastructure crumbled rapidly and the old world fell. But in its absence, a new one sprouted. 

To survive in the years post-Happening meant reinventing an entirely new mode of existence. “Industry” as it was once understood transformed into a unilateral effort to rehabilitate our cities into habitable environments. In a certain sense, everyone became a scientist. Humans spent decades re-engineering both plant and animal DNA to create new hybrid breeds of flora and fauna to replace all that had been lost and could no longer survive. The lines between city and jungle blurred. 

In New New York, buildings are connected at the base by dense tree canopies. The hudson is translucent by day and bioluminescent by night.

New New York has, however, maintained its verticality. To optimize cohesiveness, humans chose to reside full-time on four different physical planes, known as Habitation Zones. Each Habitation Zone plays a vital role in New New York’s daily functioning and possesses distinctive personalities. There are the SubTerranean Dwellers, The Canopy Floor Dwellers, The Upper Canopy Dwellers and the River Dwellers.

Then there’s us– the Multi Habitation Zone Alliance. We are rarely seen and heard, and don’t function as a governing body, more as an invisible support system. We see you, and we recognize all that you’ve done, we invite you to reign in 3024 with us in a night of debaucherous extravagance.
